When your name, address, and phone number differ across the web, search engines have a hard time understanding the data associated with that citation is actually related to your business. Now it can be really challenging to manage your listings. The manual method is to run Google searches for your business and find sites that have your address listed. If you’ve recently moved locations, it’s even more important to update your listings. For that, I’d start at the data aggregator level with Axiom and Infogroup. And then I would run a Google search for your old address to make a list of all the top sites that have it listed incorrectly.
Reach out either with their online tool or directly to the site owner to request a change. If you prefer a more automated fashion, you can use a tool available from Moz Local. Here you can conduct some research for free and then make the changes yourself or for 49 dollars a year you can fill out one form and let Moz keep the listings up to date for you.
So it is important to check the duplicate listing and solve it. It’s a good idea to set aside time to check that your listings are consistent. If you have multiple locations, list each one of them individually in your directories and check each location for errors independently.
