Keeping your NAP (name, address, phone) consistent across the web
February 3, 2016The impact of reviews on local SEO

Reviews are a huge key to success with local SEO. So don’t be afraid to ask people to write an online review about your business. Reviews should be genuine and come in at a natural pace. All at once would be suspect to Google. Now, a user can leave a review by searching for your business and then selecting “Write a Review” from your Google search result. To see that you can do a search for a local business in your town. You’ll see there, just below the description of their search result, the link to write a review.
If you select that link, Google’s going to take you right into a review window. Here you can describe the experience and rate it from one to five stars. You can see the “Write a review” link in Google Maps listing view.
One thing I suggest is if you right-click on the “Write a Review” link and copy the link address, you can place a link on your website to encourage people to leave a review. Another site worth collecting reviews on is Yelp.com. Yelp reviews automatically aggregate onto Google. Yelp is a big stickler on having natural, non-incentivized reviews. Be sure you’ve created a listing on Yelp, and then you can encourage customers to share about their experience on your Yelp listing.
Both Yelp and Google Reviews are mobile friendly, and often by adding signage about Google and Yelp to your local business, you’ll find people will leave a review while they’re still there. Build genuine reviews, and Google will aggregate them for you and display them to your users.
