Crafting the right title and description tags
December 30, 2015Optimizing page speed in Local SEO
January 4, 2016There are six heading tags available when building a website H1 through H6. Now, a heading tag denotes a section heading and the numbers refer to their overall importance. H1 would be the highest and most important heading and H6 would be the smallest and therefore the least important heading. And heading tags are important because they are going to provide a frame of reference to Google and help it really understand the topic that you are trying to rank for.
In the case of Local SEO, the heading one tag is the fantastic place to input your keyword and local modifier if it makes sense to your user. At a basic level for each keyword and modifier that you are trying to rank for you should build a page around it and have that keyword be referenced in your heading one tag. Now a heading one tag does not necessary mean that it has been the biggest text on the page. Heading one tag can have different sizes and you’ll define those in your style sheet. It is really important to only have one heading tag on your site.
Your heading one tag indicates the topic and you really shouldn’t have two topics. You’re heading two and heading three tags are still important. They really help frame the topic. Now you can have as many Heading two tags as you need to denote sections on the page but keep it as concise as possible.
Another great use of your heading tags is to build pages that have answers to your commonly asked questions. You can use a heading one tag for the question that a user might type into Google the then build a really quality answer around it. At the end of the day make sure you are using one heading one tag and the rest of your heading tags are in order on your site.
